30,000 users to benefit from new intranet and internet solution
Canberra. Netcat has been awarded a contract to modernise legislation and policy guide publishing for FaCSIA, the Australian Federal Government agency responsible for social policies and support affecting Australian society and the living standards of Australian families.
FaCSIA is the Government's principal source of advice on social policy issues and is responsible for about a quarter of the government's budgetary outlays. FaCSIA works in partnership with other government and non-government organisations in the management of a diverse range of programs and services which support and improve the lives of Australians.
FaCSIA required a Web Content Management solution for the on-line publishing of policy Guides and Acts of legislation, together with a framework and engine for the publishing /maintenance of the Intelligent Information System for Decision Makers (IIS), a major legislation publishing program. The solution had to offer the ability to manage massive numbers of MS-Word documents, to dynamically transform these into Web format, update over 2 million links and have a friendly and intuitive user-interface.
Netcat provided a powerful and scalable internet and intranet solution that services 30,000 users across multiple agencies including: FaCSIA, Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST), Social Security Appeals Tribunal, and Centrelink).
“Netcat’s transformation technologies were a key factor in their selection”, said Bruce Wren, Netcat CEO. “FaCSIA are responsible for an enormous range of legislation and policy guides, and need absolute confidence that their constituents are operating from the most up to date information. Prior to installing Netcat, FaCSIA had significant resources dedicated to maintaining over 100,000 word documents and manually updating over 2 million links. Netcat transformation technologies converted these 100,000 documents in (insert time ) and updates all the links every time any content changes.”
