Netcat.biz, (www.netcat.biz), the leading Australian owned content management software company, has won the AIIA (www.aiia.com.au) iAwards for best software in the Egovernment category. The award recognised Netcat’s achievement for its Legislation publishing project at the Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (www.facsia.gov.au).
iAwards are the most prestigious awards in ICT in Australia, and are granted to outstanding innovations in technology.
Netcat’s Publishing Solution for FaCSIA had to offer the ability to manage massive numbers of MS-Word documents, to dynamically transform these into Web format, update over 4 million links and have a friendly and intuitive user-interface.
Netcat developed the Netcat Legislation Publishing solution which allows the mass import of large and complex documents that relate to the publishing of legislation, policy guides, case law and other associated documents. Netcat’s product automatically analyses the structure of these documents and transforms them from static word and PDF formats to dynamic web content. During the transformation process the content is extracted from the source document, and fractured into logical slivers which are used to produce a “mini-site” which reflects the document structure and content.
“Netcat’s transformation technologies were a key factor in our win”, said Bruce Wren, Netcat CEO. “We won the award because we created an innovative solution that met a very demanding set of requirements, and enables FaCSIA to provide all its stakeholders with the most up to date information. This is recognition that many Government agencies are at the leading edge in delivering content online, and we have transformed the way in which FaCSIA provides information to its stakeholders. And this solution has application beyond simply legislation publishing to any business or government environment looking to put complex documents online. “
Brendan Dalton, Branch Manager, Information Management at FaCSIA commented “We have a complex publishing requirement and Netcat’s great solution has delivered a fantastic result for us. We now have a single publishing stream across web, intranet, DVD and Print allowing us to publish accurate information.”
